Our trip to Denver!

We traveled to Denver this weekend to see my brother Andy. It was Leo's first big trip and his first time on a plane. He did great! We couldn't have asked for a better experience. He slept most of the time on the plane and was happy and content when he was awake. We weren't sure what to expect when traveling with an infant and we were pleasantly surprised. One of the best surprises was when we were upgraded to first class on the way home! It was great to have so much space and to be the first ones off the plane. It feels good to know that we can successfully travel with a baby!

We had so much fun with Andy. He lives in a great area of Denver called Wash Park. There is a big beautiful park a few blocks from his house. He is also within walking distance of several restaurants, bars and shops. The weather was beautiful and we were able to spend a lot of time outside. We went for several walks, went to yummy restaurants, went to the Farmers Market and had a great time relaxing. Andy was a wonderful host and Leo loved spending time with his uncle. Thanks Andy for such a fun weekend!!!

Acid Reflux :(

Poor baby Leo has acid reflux. We found this out at his 8 week appointment and he started on Zantac but it wasn't strong enough and the reflux was getting worse. We went back to the doctor yesterday and he started on a new medication - Prilosec. I feel so bad for him, he seems so uncomfortable at times- arching his back, coughing, grunting, crying, spitting up. I wish there was something more I could do to help him...Any ideas???

We are taking our first big trip this weekend to visit my brother in Denver. It will be Leo's first plane ride. Andy just moved into a new house near a park and we can't wait to see it! I hope the plane ride goes well...We have so much stuff to bring, I have already started to pack!

The start of a new school year...

For the first time in the past 23 years I did not go back to school this fall. As a student and a teacher, I've always anxiously awaited the month of September- the stress, the fun and the craziness of a new year. It's hard to believe that the first few weeks of school have come and gone and I still feel like I am on summer vacation. It feels great.

For the first time, I am starting the school year as a parent and not a teacher. Leo and I started our ECFE class this week. It is a class through the EP School District for babies who are 0-6 months old and their parents. I love it! We sing songs, play with toys, and learn all about child development. It is fun for Leo to interact with the other babies and it is great for me to interact with the other moms.

We've been busy!!!

We have had a very busy week! Last weekend we had a lot of visitors- Kevin's grandparents from Tulsa, My aunt Barb, cousin Chris and his girlfriend Kelsey from Iowa and my brother Michael from Dallas. We had a great time visiting with everyone. Leo loved meeting his great grandparents, great aunt and cousins. I think we spent every meal eating with someone either at our house, my parents house or Kevin's parents house. We also heard some exciting news! Kevin's sister Jenny and her husband Toby are expecting a baby and are due in early April. We are so excited for them! Leo will have his first cousin- yeah!

I attended my good friend from High School, Heather's, bachelorette party last weekend. We rented the "petal pub" and biked around North East Minneapolis. We had a great time, kind of a crazy night!!! Last night we went to Heather and Dan's wedding in St. Paul. The ceremony was beautiful and Heather looked amazing- very vintage! It was fun to re-connect with some friends from High School who I haven't seen in awhile. Kevin and Leo spent most of the ceremony in the lobby with the other Dad's. Leo did a great job at dinner and slept through most of the events.

On Wednesday we celebrated my mom's birthday. Leo and I took her out for lunch and then the whole family went out to dinner at the Golden Nugget and back to my parents house for dessert and gifts. I think she enjoyed her first birthday as a Grandma!

6,7,8,9...are the number of hours Leo has been sleeping at night between feedings. Most nights he sleeps about 6 or 7 hours but he has had a few nights where he has slept 8 hours and last night he slept 9. It feels amazing to get a full nights rest. I felt like a new woman when I woke up this morning!

I ordered a Lion Halloween costume for Leo and it just arrived in the mail. I included a pic of him in it. I think he looks pretty cute!

We are looking forward to a quiet weekend, spending time with our family of 3. Leo and I start our ECFE class this week- his first day of school is Tuesday! I am looking forward to meeting the other mom's and kids. Life is good!

Two Month Appointment...

Leo had his 2 month well-baby check today. He did great! He is a BIG boy weighing in at 14 pounds 7 oz and is 24.5 inches long!!! He is in the 95th percentile for weight and the 90th for height. Wow! Dr. Oster said that he looks strong and healthy. My least favorite part of the appointment was when he had to have 2 shots. I felt so bad for him!!! I had to close my eyes while she was giving the shots. He screamed for only a minute and then fell asleep. I think it was harder on me than it was on him! We will go back in a few weeks for two more shots (we decided to spread them out) and then we will go back in November for his 4 month check-up.

We have a very busy weekend coming up...Kevin's grandparents from Tulsa are driving up to meet Leo, my aunt and cousin from Iowa are coming in town and my brother Michael is coming home from Dallas for the weekend. We will be busy!!!
