We brought Leo to the Deardorff Apple Orchard this morning and had a WONDERFUL time. It was a beautiful fall morning with plenty of sunshine. We got to the orchard early and had lots of time to explore the farm and surrounding orchards. We took a tractor ride to the area where we could pick apples and spent time walking through the orchards. Leo loved picking and eating the apples, he ate three while we were there! We also visited the goats and sheep, took Leo for a ride in the wagon and sat in the pumpkin patch. The owners were serving grilled hot dogs for lunch, so we found a table and ate hot dogs, chips and apple doughnuts. I think this was the most unhealthy meal Leo has ever eaten and he LOVED it! The farm is absolutely beautiful and we had such a great time.

Block Party!

We had a neighborhood block party last weekend. Everyone brought a dish to share and toys to play with. We had so much fun! The kids played and ate while the adults chatted and enjoyed a few drinks. After the kids went to bed, the adults gathered for a bonfire. We feel so blessed to have such great neighbors. What a fun night!

First Day of School

Posing for pictures before the first day of class

Leo and I started our ECFE class last week. He is in the "ones" class this year which means that there is partial separation between the parents and the kids. Leo has some separation anxiety issues so I was not sure how the class would go. He did great during the play time, circle time and snack time but when the parents left the room he panicked. He started to search for me and then began to cry. Really hard. The teacher finally showed him where I was and he snuggled with me for awhile before I brought him back to the toys and the other kids. Every time I brought him out of the parent room he would cry or find me again. I was sweating by the time the class was over. I left feeling frustrated and discouraged. I hardly even learned the names of the other moms because I was so busy keeping Leo happy. I came home and started to research separation anxiety and everything I read told me that it is just a phase and there isn't a lot you can do to change it. I HOPE that this phase passes quickly. I know he would have so much fun at school if he could just relax and enjoy. Maybe next week will go better...

Walking with Gramps

We decided that we should head up to the cabin for one last weekend of summer fun. Kevin, Leo and I joined my parents up North and we had a great time! Leo loved playing on the beach and splashing in the water. He also loved riding in the boat with Grammy. He would sit completely still on her lap and she would sing to him while we cruised on the boat. He had fun walking all over and playing with Gramps. Kevin and I went for a canoe ride and went for a swim in the lake. It was a great way to wrap up the end of a wonderful summer!
