The State Fair

Growing up, our family went to the Fair every year. I loved going to the Fair, it was something I looked forward to every summer. When Kevin and I started dating, we went to the Fair together, only missing the years I was at KU and couldn't make it back. The first year Leo was born, we left him home but he came with us last year and this year. We went on Saturday late afternoon and it was a perfect night for the Fair. It was relatively cool outside with a nice breeze- perfect weather for a pregnant lady to walk around outside for hours! Leo"s favorites at the Fair were: the tractors at Machinery Hill, the "no top car" ride in the Midway, the animal barns, the giant pretzel dipped in cheese, Sweet Martha's cookies and the swing band. My favorites were eating everything in sight (footlong hotdog, cheese curds, roasted corn, chocolate malt, and sweet Martha's) and watching Leo love every minute of the fair! Well almost every minute...we had one small mis-hap at the trampoline ride. Leo insisted on "jumping high" on the ride. So we bought the $5 ticket and waited for over a half an hour in line. Leo was very patient and was so excited to jump. However, he apparently changed his mind when we got up to the front and he realized that he had to wear the harness to jump on the tramp. He wanted nothing to do with the harness and started screaming. So, we left,$5 ticket unused. Live and learn!!! We love the fair so much that we are actually going back this week with Ammie and Papa!!!
